I am helping my friend, Yasmin, to spread the news around. So if you're interested, let me know and I'll be happy to pass it to her.

Re: Let's have a tree party
Dear friends and family,
As the above subject details, I am organising a Tree Party for individuals who are interested to offset their carbon emissions by planting local trees along a degraded river. You can bring your friends, family or even colleagues and staff to this party and trust me, there will be NO hangovers.
This Party is organised by Wildasia and will kick off this June 2008. It's an effort by a bunch of tree huggers to bring back wild lands into our landscape. And what better way to share this experience than with your friends, family, staff and colleagues.
Unlike normal presents you give to people, this gift of nature will take the planet a long way. With 100 hectares of river corridors, YOU can help bring back nature to this neglected river. Set amidst Tanah Merah plantation, every tree plant will offset your carbon footprint.
When: 31st May - June 7th
Where: Sungai Janging, Tanah Merah.
HOW DO YOU PARTICIPATE?
1. Pledge for ONE OR MORE tree (native species of course) and we will plant it for you. The cost to you? 50 bucks per tree. (includes growing it in the nursery, transporting it from Perak to KL, planting it for you). The benefits you ask? Need I say more?
2. Have a tree party where you and your friends or even colleagues can come to the site and get dirty and plant the trees yourself. Alternatively we can also plant it for you. It's good for your corporate image, employee morale, and best of all it gives you carbon credits (Trees capture atmospheric carbon and covert it to wood. When you or your company plant trees, you are offsetting the effects (e.g., climate change) of greenhouse gases from automobiles, factories and power generation) (You are more than welcome to have a picnic by the river after you are done with the tree party)
3. If you are keen to explore this with your organisation, we can customised the tree party according to your needs. For corporate tree parties, please revert to me for more details. If you think your boss should explore this, contact us so that we can send you the full details of the "party".
DID YOU KNOW?
That planting 50 trees (0.2 hectares of land) along Sungai Janging, will offset your carbon dioxide emissions of 2 tonnes for 10 years.
If you are keen to explore this, please do not hesitate to email me for more information. Instead of thinking about it, let's just do it! A tree party is the simplest thing any individual can do YET not enough of us are doing it.
Remember:
[(Your carbon emissions-2 tonnes) ÷ 10 years] + party + your friends= Satisfaction Guaranteed!

- I found this article in the Star, which also refers to WildAsia.Net website.
- As of today, I'm thinking of pledging 2 trees.
- On Sunday, while I was in KLCC, I was approached by the WWF people. So, I signed up for a small contribution to be billed to me every quarter. Tho's it's a small one, I'd like to think of it as something. ;)
