I don't know if it's just me.... but everytime I go to the movies, I couldn't help but to read the subtitles. Even when I'm watching Malay dramas on telly, my eyes would wander to the subtitles.
Once in a while you tend to get some funny translated phrases.
How about you guys?
Btw, those pirated DVDs are worst! :D

When they first came on TV3 had the best subs around. At the time, RTM still had the third person narrative subs which made no sense at all.
ReplyDeleteAbout ten years ago, TV3 started stagnating, during the time there were no English primetime shows and it's like 24 hours of Scenario or something. At the same time RTM's subs were awesome, like the medical translations on ER.
Nowadays, TV3 spells "Virgil" as "Verjal". It's just sad.
Zarin.. i ada video tape "pretty Woman" tapi di translatekan jadik "Gadis Cilik" hahahaha
ReplyDeletesila: yeah, that's a toughie. remember the story abt the romanian guy when i took the train from rome to turin? he was clearly frustrated that there was no equivalent phrase in malay. in the end we taught him the cantonese version. :D
