This would mark as my second visit to the rivers in one week. None in the last few years... Oh wait, would the Sofie Jane waterfall count? We were there when we did the ATV activity in Kemensah. Anyhoo, a group of friends and I went to Ulu Yam on Monday, the first day of the Chinese New Year.

At Ulu Yam on the day of CNY.
5 days later on that Saturday, it was the Sungai Chiling's turn with my colleagues.
It was close to 5 years ago when we took on the
white water rafting challenge. We didn't manage to couple it with the trekking to Chiling River waterfall on that day because it was raining after lunch and it was getting late. According to the map, it would be a 3km trek to the waterfall from the entrance, crossing the river 6 times.

The guys were kind enough to do a door-to-door service by picking me up and dropping me off at my house. As planned, they arrived at 9:30am and we took the MRR2-Gombak Setia-Empangan Batu-Ulu Yam-Batang Kali-Kuala Kubu Baru route. When we reached Kuala Kubu Baru, we made a pitstop at a mamak to pack up lunch. Two of us opted for
roti canai while the other two preferred
nasi kandar instead :). After finishing up our drinks we headed for the river.

At the mamak... we took way too many shots. yet we couldn't get them right :D

Are we the only ones who do not know what Roti Kobra is?

We started the trek at 12:01pm and reached the crowded yet gorgeous waterfall an hour later. It was the dry season so the river was only at waist level at its deepest points. Our
adidas kampungs did their job at keeping our feet firm on the slippery rocks. Since the river is a kelah sanctuary, you'd bound to see them in the river, following and circling the visitors hoping for food.
We stayed and hung around at the waterfall for like an hour and went downstream to find a place to eat our lunch in a more relaxing atmosphere. The spot that we found was awesome. We couldn't ask for a better one than that.

Then it was time to head back. We reached the first crossing at 4:30 or so, got changed and left by 5. We stopped at the same mamak restaurant for an early dinner. I couldn't remember when we left for KL but those guys dropped off at my house close to 8pm. Time really flies when you're having fun right? ;)
All and all it was a really great and fun trip! I don't know why we had waited for 5 years for this :D. To be fair, we did a fair share of activities in between ;)
Geng, ke mana kita lepas ni?
tak ajak pun...
