The first and the last time that I stepped foot at FRIM (Forest Research Institute of Malaysia) was when my friends came by in 2004 (in the same period as the devastating tsunami that even affected the coastline of Sri Lanka). We hired a guide to take us through one of the hiking trails to get up close and personal with the flora and fauna. The tour ended at the Canopy Walk.

| 2004: blast from the past |
Today, the Canopy Walk has been replaced by the Forest Skywalk. The entrance fee is RM15 for locals and RM40 for foreigners and you are free to walk about and take pictures within the 30 minute slot.
I picked up the others at 7 in the morning and we stopped at Village Park restaurant along the way for a nasi lemak breakfast. It's been ages since I went there to dine in. The restaurant opens at 6:30 daily. By the time we got there, the first section is almost full, apart from a couple of empty tables. When we were finished with our breakfast at 8, the second section was mostly taken up.

At the carpark, we needed to pay up 8 ringgit - RM5 ringgit for car and a ringgit for each of the passenger minus the driver. The walk from the carpark to the Skywalk was 5 minutes at best. We arrived just in time for our 8:30 am slot. They had some technical issue but that was resolved quickly.
I'll let the pictures speak for the Skywalk tour.

| Been there, done that |
The rest of FRIM was closed until further notice - like the Sg Kroh picnic area and the Wetlands. So instead we walked around the nearby lake. The other fellas are into Tiktok. They were trying to figure out the best (and easiest) TT videos that would suit the time and place, whilst killing some time. I just needed to wait for my turn and being told what to do :D |

After we were done with FRIM, we were wanting to go to the river to cool off. When we asked the abang at the booth for any river recommendation, he said Bukit Lagong isn't that far off. So we made that as our target destination. Along the way we stopped for a really refreshing coconut juice stop and some cucuqs.

| Tadaaa. The result |
The river at Bukit Lagong wasn't much to shout about, but it served its purpose.

We had a late lunch at Warung Che Bunga in Sungai Buloh before adjourning for the day. That's a wrap for 2022. Thanks guys. Hoping for a better 2023. Insya Allah
