Indonesia 2026 (iii): Lembang and Bandung

The drive from Batu Karas to Lembang will be a true test for Tolak Angin 😅. 209km and close to 7 hours 🙊.

🚗🚙🚌🚚🛻🛵🚕

According to my Googlemap timeline, we left House of Sawah at 2:21pm and stopped twice:

  • at a Pertamina gas station near Tasik Malaysia for prayer, refuel and leg stretching break after 3:30 hours of driving. And not to forget, another round of Tolak Angin 😊
  • at Jabarano Coffee Braga for dinner at 9:10pm.

Jabarano Coffee Dago

It was first time trying out Jabarano Coffee. It was packed whenever I visited Dago. I guess being on a weekday helped.
Now, what to order?

Relieved that we made this far. Just a tad more!

IMO we had the best table even with the high chairs.

Loved the pisang madu on the right. Like a caramelized cekodok

one with the food

Since it was already late at night, it just took us 37 minutes to get to our hotel, the L'Eminence Lembang. We arrived at 11:18pm -- still on the same day! 😄  Tolak Angin was awesome. R was a champion at the wheels. D was great co-piloting and DJ'ing. We at the back were in and out of naps 😊. Alhamdulillah 🤲🏻

Tired faces

Thursday

The next morning, we had breakfast at the hotel at 6:30am. Yes again, Indonesians are morning people!

We copycatted the poses from the picture booth collections in the lobby 😄

Here's our route/itinerary for today

Rumah Mode

I myself have never been to Rumah Mode. I've seen it in my friends' IG stories when they were in Bandung. I didn't intend on shopping so I just browsed through the shopping floor quickly. We just spent half an hour tops there because my sister wasn't simply wowed 🙈. That was fine. We were just getting started 😉.

Empty hands 🤭

Sari sari

Now, this is a a must stop for me every time I'm in Bandung. My go-to kueh is always the celorot. I guess it has the same taste as the lower brown portion of kuih tepung talam.

My sis went kueh-crazy that it was a first time we were given a bigger box. More on this later! 😋.

Most of the kuehs were hers, minus like 5 of ours 😁

Celorots

Scentsored Perfumery

This is one of the perfume shops that you can create your own perfume. However, you need to spend like a couple of hours for that. So instead, my sister browsed through their ready-made scents. Good thing we have D. He and the sales guy can assist my sister. R and I can just sit there on the couch relaxing 😇.

Kartika Sari

The bagelen here is surely one of the best out there but at Rp70,000 it's quite pricey even after converting it to MYR. Beli untuk makan sendiri okey lah. Pisang bolen is also another hit especially when it's still hot. On the flip side, its shelf life is short.

Mie Baso Bintang Avon

R took us for bakso at his family's favourite bakso spot. It's like a moms and pops shop. But the dishes were awesome.

Roti Ciwawa

R found out about this bakery's bagelen from his neighbours. So we were there to get some for the folks back home. At Rp.18000 a pack, it is wayyy cheaper than Kartika Sari's. They're great too!

distributed them to my friends after returning to work

De.u Coffee Dago

I've already been here last year -- We came after breakfast so they didn't have much yet in their menu. A year later, the place is still the one of the top cafes in Bandung. We stayed for drinks until after the sun has set.

Back at the hotel

We had a nongkrong session by the pool after we claimed the welcome drinks in the lobby. You should see my sister tried to consume all of the kuehs that she bought at Sari Sari. All but 2. That's good enough. You should try laughing on a full stomach 😂.

jenga-shaped getuk bandung #ytjt 😁

Friday

Before packing and checking out early at 11:30am because of the Friday prayers, we had breakfast and jumped into the pool for the last time.

Drone

The hotel offered a free picture and frame for each room, so we didn't want miss out on the chance and booked a slot at 11.

We chose this ...

.. and this!

Nice mihrab

Warkop Modjok

Warung modjok is a cafe for cat lovers. But the cats need to approve you first before you can approach them. There are few shy ones. And one feisty one 🐱.

This guy was under the weather a bit

Found a PERSIB bus otw. 3-peat winners!

Kopi Bawah Pohon

This cafe popped up in my feed in the few days leading up to my trip. R also just found out about it and it was close to his house.. Yeah, cafes are popping up in Bandung like mushrooms. What I like about this cafe apart from the greenery was the live music.

We had loads of time that we even resorted to these kinds of pictures 😁

Padang Sabtu Minggu and Durian

Tante treated us nasi padang for dinner. We ate loads and even had second and third helpings. But we missed out on topping up more paru because we didn't know what it was. It was soo good!

Hatur nuhun pisan tante karena traktir

After dinner, we asked tante if she would like some company to eat durians. The look on her face when she saw all those durians were priceless. She was beaming from ear to ear. Hahaha. Kesiannn anak-anak tak makan durian 😅

Tante was sooo happy

Wanted nothing to do with durians 😁

Saturday

We just had the morning left in Bandung. Boooo
So, we went out for breakfast, coffee and cakes and Sari Sari.

Bubur Ayam Mang Oyo

Bubur for breakfast!

Mom's Artisan Bakery

We moved to Mom's to have coffee and cakes.

Sari Sari

We stopped by Sari Sari to show my sister the full shelves in the morning. At the same time, we packed up a small box of kuehs for the train ride. I have to stress on the small box. Hahaha. Rambang mata woo! (spoilt for choices!)

Back for second round but my sister learned her lessons. Just buy enough for the train ride 😄

Leaving Bandung

Our train was scheduled for 1pm departure from Stasium Bandung. R recommended the the Priority train because the design exudes "Murder on the Orient Express". The 3 hour ride didn't feel long when you have comfy seat and pampered with snacks and drinks.

My sis needs to come back to try Whoosh 😉.

R called for Grab at 11'ish so we had ample time before the 12:30pm boarding time.

Arrived at Stasiun Gambir, Jakarta

Proof that we had arrived in Jakarta!
